Simon Danczuk, the former Labour MP for Rochdale, has announced that he will be standing as the Reform Party's candidate in the upcoming byelection. This makes him the first high-profile politician to defect to the party, which was founded by Nigel Farage and is led by Richard Tice.

From Labour to Reform

During his time as an MP, Danczuk played a key role in exposing the grooming gang scandal. However, he believes that the Labour Party has shifted away from its traditional values and is no longer representing the interests of working-class voters.

"The Labour Party is just focused on the North London view of things now," Danczuk explained. "They have gone from work to woke. I was traditional Labour, standing up for people who were working and reducing illegal immigration. But where is the Labour Party on all that now?"

He also criticized Sir Keir Starmer's leadership, claiming that traditional Labour voters in Rochdale are deserting the party because they feel taken for granted.

A Controversial Byelection

The Rochdale byelection is expected to be highly contentious, with political parties bracing for potential intimidation and violence. George Galloway and far-right nationalist Tommy Robinson are also considering running, adding to the already tense atmosphere.

Community and racial tensions, particularly related to the war in Gaza and the grooming scandals, are expected to spill over into the campaign.

A New Chapter

Danczuk, who was previously married to Karen Danczuk, known as the "selfie queen," has recently remarried. He tied the knot with 28-year-old Rwandan beauty therapist Claudine Uwamahoro.

By standing as the Reform Party's candidate, Danczuk hopes to bring attention to the issues that matter most to the people of Rochdale and offer an alternative to the current political landscape.
