IT firm Fujitsu has announced that it will refrain from participating in government contracts while the ongoing inquiry into the Post Office scandal continues. The company's faulty systems led to the wrongful conviction of several postmasters on charges of theft and fraud. Over 900 subpostmasters faced prosecution after the faulty software falsely indicated that money was missing from their branches. Cabinet Office Minister Burghart confirmed that Fujitsu had voluntarily chosen not to bid for government contracts unless specifically invited to do so. This decision follows calls from Tory former Cabinet minister Sir David Davis to ban companies with poor track records, such as Fujitsu, from bidding for government contracts. Fujitsu has played a significant role in the public sector, securing nearly 200 contracts worth a collective £6.8 billion since 2012.
