Boris spent three days in intensive care after catching Covid in 2020

Mr Johnson caught Covid in 2020 and spent three days in intensive care at St Thomas’ hospital, where he was struggling to breathe properly.

The ex-Labour chief responded to a follower on Twitter who asked “does anyone actually believe that Johnson nearly died of Covid?” by responding: “no”.

Ex-culture secretary Nadine Dorries, a key ally of the former PM said: “There is a horrible hatred and sickness which resides in the heart of some people who are so partisan and so politically obsessed, they lose all sense of humanity.

“You are beyond help or hope.”

A string of nurses and doctors who cared for him have been praised for being by his bedside – and admitted things “could have gone either way”.

Carrie and BoJo named their first child Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson after the doctors that looked after him in his darkest hours.
