Instead of going into a Jobcentre, the unemployed will be able to use a web service to help build or add to their CV and match their work interests.

The Government claims the changes will mean parents and carers can get help without having to go to a Jobcentre.

The move will free up Jobcentre workers time. But they will still check in with claimants to ensure they are applying for work and to review their details.

Those on jobseekers allowance must currently sign on every two weeks. Claimants must also show examples of completed job applications and any interviews they have been to.

The Government says face-to-face meetings will continue for anyone who needs them, such as those who are not tech savvy.

Work and Pensions Secretary Dr Therese Coffey said: Lots of jobseekers are tech-savvy, preferring to use online services to find work and want to bring home a wage.

This service shake-up means jobseekers get the tailored support they need. But for people in need, our dedicated frontline staff will continue their face-to-face, personal support.
