A Labour MP who accused Rishi Sunak of having "blood on his hands" over Gaza has come under scrutiny for accepting a £9,000 trip from the government of Qatar, which provides homes to Hamas leaders.

Qatar Trip Raises Questions

Tahir Ali, the MP for Birmingham Hall Green, accused the Prime Minister of being partly to blame for the killing of thousands of Palestinians. However, it has now been revealed that he was invited to Qatar by its foreign affairs ministry just weeks before Hamas attacked Israel.

Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, operates an office in Qatar and several of its leaders reside there.

Cost of the Trip

According to records, Mr. Ali's trip cost £8,972, covering flights, accommodation, and food for himself and a family member.

Accusations of Hypocrisy

Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith criticized Mr. Ali, calling him a hypocrite. Clarke-Smith stated, "Tahir Ali's disgraceful remarks at PMQs show Labour really haven't changed at all. It should come as no surprise that despite his virtue signaling and claims to be defending human rights, he is quite happy to accept stays in swanky hotels for him and a plus one from somewhere with a questionable record themselves and where the leaders of Hamas seek sanctuary. This is yet more hypocrisy from Labour MPs."
