DANCE band M People hit out after Liz Truss used their famous hit ‘Moving On Up’ to walk on stage to.

Founder Mike Pickering said the Manchester band were “livid” the PM had used their hit 1993 track ahead of her keynote speech.

But he admitted the band were “left leaning” and not a fan of the Tories.

He added: “They are livid – I’m gutted by it.

“She won’t be around to use it again for very long. I would imagine.”

The son of the group’s lead singer, James Small-Edwards, was elected as a Labour councillor in West London in May.

Following Ms Truss’s entrance, he tweeted: “An apt choice! This tired and out of touch Tory Government is indeed moving on out.”

The PM personally picked the smash hit to walk on to, aides said.

But the angry band had been told by lawyers they could do nothing about it.

Boris Johnson provoked a similar reaction when he walked on to Friendly Fire’s Blue Cassette at last year’s bash.
