The number of small boat migrants deported from Britain has seen a significant increase this year, according to internal Home Office statistics. In the first six months of 2023 alone, 628 individuals who crossed the English Channel were deported, compared to just 382 for the entire year of 2022.

Albanians Make up the Majority of Deportations

Out of the total number of deportations, over 500 individuals were Albanians. This increase comes after the UK government signed a deal with Albania to expedite the process of returning those who entered the country illegally.

Other Nationalities Removed

In addition to Albanians, the statistics reveal that 45 Iraqis, 17 Iranians, and individuals from 54 other nationalities were also removed after illegally entering the UK during this period.

Comparatively, in 2022, only 215 Albanians were deported, as per the data obtained by the Daily Mail. In 2021, the number of small-boat migrants of any nationality removed from Britain was just 28.
