Guidance on 'Gender Ideology'

Schools are being advised not to proactively inform children that they may have been born the wrong sex, according to new rules being introduced. The government is crafting fresh guidelines for schools in response to concerns about the teaching of "gender ideology" in classrooms.

What the New Guidance Says

Insiders have revealed that the upcoming guidance will emphasize that teachers should avoid discussing the topic unless directly questioned by a student. In such cases, teachers must clarify that it is a "contested" belief.

RSHE Guidance and Parental Involvement

The new relationships, sex, and health education (RSHE) guidance, set to be unveiled by Education Minister Gillian Keegan soon, will also require teachers to openly share all classroom materials with parents without any exceptions.

Impacts on Children and Social Transitioning

An impending report, the Cass Review, is expected to caution against the "psychological" effects on children who are permitted to change their gender. It is anticipated to suggest treating prepubescent children differently from older students. Recent guidance has specified that social transitioning should only be permitted in rare circumstances.

Government's Stance

A spokesperson for the Department for Education stressed that contested opinions should not be presented as facts in classrooms. The government aims to establish clear protections to prevent pupils from being exposed to concepts beyond their comprehension.
