Harry and Meghan's Previous Success on Netflix

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan made waves when they released a bombshell-laden series attacking his family on Netflix in 2022. The show quickly topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

Heart of Invictus Falls Short

Unfortunately, Harry's newest venture on Netflix, "Heart of Invictus," has failed to gain traction since its release on Wednesday. The six-part series showcases the inspirational stories of war-wounded soldiers competing in the 2022 Invictus Games and is Harry's first major solo docuseries project. It has received critical acclaim for its portrayal of veterans' courage, as well as Harry's emotional recounting of his own experiences. However, it seems that viewers are more interested in Harry discussing the hardships of his privileged life, rather than the inspiring stories presented in "Heart of Invictus."

A Shadow Over the Mega-Deal

This ratings failure casts another shadow over the £80 million deal that Harry and Meghan signed with Netflix in 2020. After their high-profile departure from the monarchy and relocation to California, they hope to build successful careers in Hollywood. Their first docuseries project, "Harry & Meghan," dominated news coverage and quickly climbed to the top of the Netflix charts. However, their second TV project titled "Live to Lead," featuring Greta Thunberg, also failed to make the top 10 charts and was criticized for its lack of authenticity.

Favorable Reception, but Setbacks Continue

Despite "Heart of Invictus" receiving positive ratings on review site Rotten Tomatoes, it seems that the show's viewership is not as strong as expected. This setback follows Spotify's decision to cancel Meghan's Archetypes podcast after just one season, potentially resulting in the couple losing out on a £15 million payout. Harry and Meghan released a statement claiming that the split was a "mutual" decision.
