But Corrie boss Iain MacLeod revealed another villain could return to the cobbles

Many faces have come and gone from the cobbles while others couldn’t stay away for long and rushed back.

In recent months, ITV viewers have seen some familiar faces return to the Street, including murderous Harvey Gaskell portrayed by Will Mellor.

Speaking of which, could one of his family members come back to wreak havoc in upcoming months?

During a chat with HOAR, Corrie boss Iain MacLeod revealed Sharon Bentley could be inspired to come back as newcomer Damon Hay takes over the Bistro.

“She is still out there”, Iain recalled.

“Sharon definitely still exists out there. She’s not biologically related to Damon, who is Harvey’s half-brother, but she is a wrong one who left with ambitions to take over the criminal world.”

While “nothing is on the table”, Iain stated: “it’s been discussed she might make a return.”

However, Sharon’s return will mostly depend on Tracie Bennett‘s schedule.

The actress left the Manchester-based soap in June, 2021, and remains “very busy.”

In the meantime, former Shameless actor Ciarán Griffiths portrays a thug to watch out for.

Although he may seem more reasonable than his villainous brother Harvey, Iain urged fans not to rely on first impressions.

“He’s dangerous. He first might seem more sophisticated than his brother Harvey because he’s less of a blunt instrument”, the producer explained.

“But we soon discover that the more polished, jovial veneer masks something every bit as dangerous and brutal as Harvey.”

And as he continues to focus on the family business, Damon will find the time to cause more trouble in matters of the heart.

“As the year goes on, he has a magnetic attraction for a notable high profile female character who ends up having her head turned which has far reaching-consequences”, Iain added.

Damon and the beloved character are set to embark on a shock affair in a storyline due to air on our screens in June, 2023.

Viewers can expect “a build-up and a colossal explosion” as the love story evolves.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
