CORONATION Street fans are stunned by two shock exits as Evelyn Plummer fled the cobbles with her daughter Cassie.
The charity shop worker – who is played by actress Dame Maureen Lipman in the ITV soap – made the decision to help her daughter get clean from drugs tonight.

Viewers know Evelyn had lied to grandson Tyrone and insisted his mother died years ago in South Africa.
But in reality she has been alive and on drugs this entire time.
In tonight’s episode Evelyn suddenly developed an interest in Abi and her addiction issues, demanding to know why she was able to stay sober.
Abi was taken aback but to viewers it was clear Evelyn was looking for hope that her daughter could get clean.
Heading to the hospital Evelyn was left stunned when she arrived to discover Cassie had discharged herself hours before.
And when she returned home, Evelyn was shocked to find Cassie sitting in her living room with Tyrone calling herself Cath.
After being furious, Evelyn decided to give Cassie a chance and offered to help her get clean so she could properly meet her son.
However her plans to raise thousands to pay for rehab failed when Dev refused to lend her the money and while Roy did, Evelyn rejected it.
Instead she decided to take matters into her own hands.
“I’ve got to go away,” Evelyn told Tyrone. “I’m sorry and I will miss you.”
She walked out leaving Tyrone upset, but went to meet Cassie, putting her into a taxi and taking her to stay in a flat to go cold turkey with her help.
Evelyn told her: “I wanted to get you into rehab but I couldn’t afford it, so this will have to do. I will help you, neither of us is leaving the flat until you are clean and ready to meet your son.”
And with that they left the cobbles leaving fans in shock.
One wrote: “I hope that she’s back soon. By far, the best character and definitely the best actress.”
A second said: “Nooo, she’s my fave.”
Another added: “Evelyn is one of the best characters on Corrie…”
