CORONATION Street welcomed ANOTHER Benidorm star onto the cobbles last night.
Corrie already has Tony Maudsley, who played Kenneth on the ITV comedy series, on the soap – but last night viewers were delighted to see Derren Litten make a cameo.
The writer and actor behind Benidorm appeared on yesterday evening’s show as Maria Connor’s political nemesis Bernard Barnes.
Viewers know that hairdresser Maria has launched her political campaign to get elected onto the local council.
She is determined to save the Red Rec from the developers and cut air pollution in Weatherfield.
But last night she came face to face with her biggest rival – Bernard, played by Derren.

Viewers at home loved this cameo and took to Twitter to share their joy.
One tweeted: “It’s @DerrenLitten, the creator of Benidorm on #Corrie,”
While another said: “That bloke is the creator of Benidorm comedy #Corrie.”
Derren announced his appearance in the ITV soap, just hours before his scenes aired.
“Bernard Barnes makes a brief appearance on @itvcorrie this evening (and a bit more on Monday). I can’t express how honoured I am to be even a speck on dust on timeline that is the longest running television soap opera in the world – Coronation Street,” he penned
Benidorm was a massive success on ITV during its un for ten series from 2007 until 2018.
Derren guest starred in in the show several times as different characters.
His last appearance on the show was playing ‘Elvis’, chauffeur for Crystal Hennesy-Vass (played by Joan Collins), CEO of Solana Hotel Groups.

Derren is also known as the co-writer of the award-winning The Catherine Tate Show, which he also starred in.
He has also acted in numerous other TV shows including Perfect World, French and Saunders, Spaced, EastEnders, Green Wing and Pie in The Sky.
