Filming with Bradley Walsh is already underway

She will look back on her life in the spotlight

Now, the iconic actress behind newsagent Rita, will be taking a monumental look back at her life and career including sharing some never before seen details and pictures from her closely guarded personal life.

The programme has been created to celebrate the acting great turning a monumental 90 years old.

Presented by former Corrie star turned top presenter Bradley Walsh, Barbara will recount her time in showbiz including everything she got up to before she first step foot on the cobbles in 1964.

One in particular moment the pair will discuss is Rita’s infamous Blackpool tram story of 1989.

There were first whispers that the pair were working on something big as they were snapped enjoying lunch together at a hotel in neighbouring Lytham St Anne’s.

The hotel staff members couldn’t help but take a few snaps as proof of their encounter with the actors, which they then shared on The Grand Hotel’s Instagram account.

Fans were immediately sent into a frenzy as the caption read: “It was lovely to welcome Bradley Walsh and Barbara Knox for Lunch today while they took a short break from filming in the local area.”

It won’t just be Barbara and Bradley appearing on the show too with a whole host of her co-stars, past and present, and acting friends all featured throughout the programme recounting their favourite memories of working with the icon in what looks set to be a top class retrospective documentary.

Amongst the glitter and gold of her career, Barbara aims to tell fans of the moment she discovered she was being awarded an MBE in 2010 as well as sharing intimate family photos from her early childhood.

Speaking of the decision to honour Barbara with her own primetime documentary, Katie Rawcliffe, the Head of Entertainment Commissions at ITV, said: “It’s easy to throw the words ‘legend’ and ‘icon’ around, but Barbara Knox really does embody both of those terms.

“It’s a privilege to tell the story of one of British television’s most enduring stars as she celebrates a very special birthday.”

The one-off special will air later this year in a primetime slot on ITV1 and ITVX.
