Her health continues to rapidly deteriorate next week

Danielle Harold‘s time on the BBC One soap is drawing to a close as Lola Pearce’s condition gets increasingly dire.

After being taken to hospital and enjoying a day out to the seaside with her husband Jay Brown (played by Jamie Borthwick), Lola returns home next week.

However, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is unconvinced she should be leaving the hospital as he struggles to accept her devastating prognosis.

Lola gets home and is greeted by Walford residents who rally around the family for support.

But things take another gut-wrenching turn as Lola becomes very low and her speech is more slurred while the reality of her prognosis continues to set in.

She refuses to see Janet and William while Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) is finding it hard to cope with her complicated emotions towards the situation.

Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), on the other hand, previously rejected the support of Reverend Mills but a distressed Jay is encouraged by nurse Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) to reach out to her for Lola.

After receiving advice, most notably from Phil Mitchell, Jay reaches out to Reverend Mills who visits Lola to share her religious outlook on death.

Meanwhile, Ben lashes out at both Billy and Honey, accusing the family of accepting Lola’s prognosis far too easily.

Jay ultimately confronts Ben at the Arches – but could friendship be damaged despite them needing each other’s support?

Soon, a guilty Ben heads over to No.18 but later leaves a voicemail for Dr Washington requesting help to ensure Lola will still be alive in September, making it clear he isn’t ready to accept her fate.

In later scenes, Ben meets with Dr Washington to discuss a new treatment option available in America and later heads to No.18.

Will he tell everyone that he’s desperately seeking a solution for Lola?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
