Trouble made its way out of Albert Square when Sam Mitchell took her leave for a swanky new job in Spain given to her by her former boyfriend Don.
Sam left her son Ricky Branning behind once again in April when she climbed into a taxi and fans of the London-based program were far from pleased to see her go.
Viewers took to social media, implying bosses had made a huge mistake by letting actress Kim Medcalf leave the soap, a year after making her comeback as the mischievous bombshell and begging her to come back.
While her exit made many fans rage, it was heavily implied that Sam will be returning to Albert Square in the near future, although this needed to be confirmed.
And it seems like prayers have been answered with an EastEnders representative confirming that Kim Medcalf hadn’t waved goodbye for good.
“We can confirm that Sam Mitchell has not left Walford for good and Kim Medcalf will be returning to EastEnders”, the spokesperson recently announced.
A date for Sam Mitchell’s return has yet to be confirmed but one could theorise she may be back by the summer as members of her large family will be going through some eventful months.
While her young son Ricky gets ready to become a father for the first time, members of the Mitchell clan will have to rally around Ben’s daughter Lexi due to her mother Lola dying from a terminal brain tumour.
Lola’s impending death was confirmed in 2022 and her funeral scenes have already been filmed.
But what else could Sam be up to when she comes back?
Will she return on a permanent basis?
