EASTENDERS legend Lucy Benjamin is returning to the BBC soap four years after her character fled Walford with her daughter.

The actress, 52, last appeared on our screens as Lisa Fowler in 2020 when she went on the run with her daughter Louise after Keanu Taylor’s death.

Lucy took on the role of Phil Mitchell’s ex Lisa back in 1998.

The soap star has had number of stints on the show over the years.

But her character is due to make a return to Albert Square very soon.

Confirming the news, Lucy told The Mirror: “I can’t wait to return as Lisa after leaving for Portugal with Louise and Peggy in 2019.

“No doubt, in true Lisa fashion, she will bring plenty of drama for many of the characters, which is why playing her is such a delight.”

Three years ago Lisa and Louise fled the country to save the young mum from a life in prison.

Louise wanted to escape after she began to feel consumed by her guilt after luring ex and father to her child Keanu to his death after she found out he had an affair with Sharon Watts.

Lucy first joined EastEnders in 1998, but left in 2003.

She had two brief stints in 2010 and 2017, before returning again between 2019 and 2020.
