Soap bosses confirmed Danielle Harold will be leaving the BBC One drama after a decade.
Rumours of an emotional on-screen death sent many fans into a frenzy and Lola’s exit storyline was confirmed.
In scenes due to air next week, the fan favourite will have a seizure and collapse ahead of her daughter Lexi’s pageant.
She’ll be taken to hospital with Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell (played respectively by Jamie Borthwick and Max Bowden) at her side.
Once there, doctors take over – and reveal they have found a brain tumour.
The news come as a shock for Lola and her loved ones but her story isn’t over just yet.
Later scenes, due to be aired on screens on Monday, October 31, 2022, will show Lola trying to come to terms with her diagnosis.
But she will also be preparing herself for surgery as doctors try their best to pull her out of danger.
Viewers already know their efforts will be vain as Lola Pearce will succumb to her condition with former flame Jay set to take care of her in her last moments.
Lola’s battle will begin on October 24, 2022, as spoilers have confirmed.
However, no other detail surrounding the heart-breaking storyline has been leaked, leaving fans at the edge of their seats.
The beloved character first stepped into the Square in 2011 when Billy Mitchell discovered he had fathered a son named Dan during his youth.
Dan had a daughter – Lola – before he passed away and Billy thus found out he was also a grandfather.
Lola left the show four years later before returning in 2019 alongside Ben and their daughter Lexi.
In recent EastEnders scenes, Lola was seen by fans suffering from dizzy spells.
The first one occurred on October 17, 2022, when she and Jay told Martin Fowler they had secretly rekindled their relationship.
Speaking of her upcoming departure, Danielle Harold said: “EastEnders has been such a big part of my life, but I can’t wait to start something new.”
“I want to work on other things and play other characters. I can’t wait to get out there and see what’s possible.”
“I’d love to do a drama — something with a beginning, middle and an end to the story.”
Danielle added that she could move on to the big screen.
“I want to do something completely different to soaps. I’d love to get back to doing some films as well.”
“You can’t train anywhere better than a soap. It’s so fast-paced and the hard work you put in is insane.”
“The actors on soaps are amazing. I couldn’t have learned in a better place.”
