Zack Morris has opened up on why he decided to say goodbye to Walford for good last year

He said how it wasn’t an overnight decision to quit the BBC show

The 24-year-old played the role of Keegan Baker for five years.

Speaking to RTÉ.ie, Zack revealed: “It was definitely not an overnight decision.

“I had the backing of my team – my UK agent and my US management. We had a lot of talks about when was the right time.”

Zack, who is staring in a brand new film called Jericho Ridge, went on to say: “Ultimately, EastEnders was the perfect training ground for myself.

“It was the perfect place for me to gain exposure in the industry, and also get a feel, essentially, for what every little part of the industry was going to be – be that working on set long hours, be that script changes, the everyday life of a working actor, dealing with the media, being in the limelight. All that stuff that’s valuable going forward.”

Zack has showed just how far he has come from Walford in the trailer for his new film.

He shared the first look at the survivalist thriller, set in a rundown US town.

The actor appears alongside Luther’s Nikki Amuka-Bird, who plays a cop called Tabby trying to save her son from a drug cartel.

His famous pals rushed to congratulate him, with EastEnders Charlie Brooks writing: “Whoop”.

Charlie Wernham commented: “Unreal mate.”

While Richard Blackwood added: “Well done bro.”

After filming the movie, an excited Zack told his fans: “Officially wrapped on my movie ‘Jericho Ridge’! Playing ‘Monty Temple’ was such a dope experience. I can’t wait for everyone to see the finished product on the big screen.”
