EastEnders star Milly Zero has revealed her brand new career move

Her character Dotty Cotton exited the soap in dramatic scenes last year

But following on from her shock exit late last year it looks like Milly has swapped the small screen for the stage – after revealing she has landed a huge theatre role alongside a Hollywood actor and a West End legend.

Milly, who first joined the soap in 2019, will be one of the leads in Stafford’s Gatehouse theatre’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream when it opens in June.

She will be starring alongside Australian actor Jonathan Hyde, who has appeared in a string of Hollywood blockbusters including Jumanji, Titanic and The Mummy, and West End icon Kerry Ellis.

Milly took to her social media to inform fans of her new big role away from the soap.

Sharing the theatre’s official casting announcement, Milly captioned it: “So excited to be joining Kerry Ellis and Jonathon Hyde in playing Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Gate House Theatre.

” I have missed being on stage SO much these last few years, so I am excited to return with a new challenge – my first Shakespeare play. Hope to see some of you there.”

Milly’s former Eastenders co-stars were quick to congratulate her on her huge career news.

Charlie Brooks, who plays soap baddie Janine Butcher, commented: “I will be there with BELLS ON!! This is amazing news. So proud. Well done my darling.”

While Lorraine Stanley, who plays Karen Taylor, wrote: “Lovely.”

And Danny Dyer commented: “Yes young Zero.”

Best pal Shiv Jalota, who played Milly’s on screen boyfriend Vinny Panesar, cheered: “Come on.”

And Balvinder Soapal wrote: “Congratulations my beautiful girl.”

The role is Milly’s first acting job since quitting the soap last year to focus on other roles.

Milly’s final scenes aired back in December after her character stormed out of Walford in a blaze of glory after discovering she hadn’t been left her late grandma Dot’s house in her will.

Dotty was left furious after discovering the house had instead been left to her enemy Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).

She threatened to torch the house in dramatic scenes but had a change of heart and left the Square for good in a taxi.
