Chaos in Soapland

This week has brought chaos to soap fans as ITV has made changes to the regular schedule for both Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Thursday has been a big day in soapland, prompting the broadcaster to alter the time slots for these popular shows.

Emmerdale's Shocking Storyline

Emmerdale fans were left stunned as Lydia Dingle's rape storyline kicked off this week. The gripping drama unfolded, drawing in viewers across the country.

Unaltered on Monday

At the start of the week, TV fans were able to enjoy their favorite programs as neither of their time slots had been altered on Monday (September 4).

Upheaval on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the highly-anticipated National Television Awards caused upheaval for fans, as a special hour-long episode of Emmerdale was aired. This led to a change in the schedule for the ITV Evening News.

Evening Drama Tonight

For this evening, both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will continue to air at their regular times of 7.30pm and 8pm.

More Chaos Ahead

However, starting from this Friday (September 8), fans will need to prepare for more disruption as ITV will begin airing coverage of the Rugby World Cup 2023.

Friday's Episode Moved to Thursday

Friday's episode of Coronation Street has been moved up to Thursday (September 7). This episode will also air at a later time, from 9pm until 10pm.

Emmerdale Fans Disappointed

What's more, Emmerdale fans will be left disappointed as there will not be an hour-long episode on Thursday as usual.

No Soaps on Friday

To add to the frustration, both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be completely scrapped on Friday evening, as ITV will be airing live coverage of the Rugby World Cup.

Normal Service Resumes on Monday

Fortunately, the soaps will return to their normal schedule on Monday (September 11, 2023). However, the Rugby World Cup will shake things up once again at the end of the week.

Rugby World Cup Matches

Starting from Thursday, September 14, 2023, there will be regular matches aired, beginning with a game between France and Uruguay at 7.15pm.

Friday, September 15, will also feature another game between New Zealand and Namibia in the same time slot.

Frequent Shake-Ups

TV shake-ups have become increasingly common in recent months, leaving Emmerdale and Coronation Street viewers scrambling to adapt to last-minute schedule changes.

Regular Airings

Emmerdale is typically aired weeknights from 7.30pm for a half-hour episode, with an hour-long episode every Thursday. Meanwhile, Coronation Street is aired every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm.

Star-Studded Night

The cast of both soaps attended the National Television Awards last night, creating a buzz among fans and industry insiders alike.

Special Episode for Fans

The awards event gave ITV the opportunity to air an hour-long episode of Emmerdale, providing fans with an extra dose of drama and excitement.
