Emmerdale fans emotional at shock Arthur Thomas twist

EMMERDALE fans are all saying the same thing after an emotional Arthur Thomas twist in tonight’s episode.

The schoolboy recently came out as gay but was left humiliated when friend Marshall set him up to ask him out for a bet.

Arthur was upset that his LGBTQ+ assembly was cancelled

Marshall told Arthur that he wants to go on a date with him

However tonight he revealed the truth about what happened.

Earlier in the episode Marshall stood up to the bullies for Arthur, but ended up on the sharp end of Laurel’s tongue.

She ripped him a new one and told him to stay away from Arthur.

But later when Arthur’s LGBTQ+ assembly was cancelled, Marshall went to visit Arthur to check he was okay.

Furious at everything, Arthur stormed off.

Marshall found him in the pirate ship and apologised for the bet and explained that he didn’t want to do any of it but they convinced him into going along with it.

Arthur told him that it hurt him – but he was taken aback when Marshall admitted he asked him out without knowing the bullies were watching.

“I was drunk,” he said.

“I didn’t know they were going to be watching. I thought they were playing Mario Kart.”

Arthur replied: “So when you said all that stuff about going on a date, it wasn’t a bet?

“We still could, if you wanted. Go somewhere quiet like this. No-one has to know. Forget it, it’s a stupid idea…”

But then Marshall took his hand and told him: “I’d like that.”

He leaned in for a kiss, but then his phone rang and it was his dad, which saw Marshall panic and run off.

Viewers are emotional at the shock twist.

One wrote: “Arthur and Marshall are really sweet, I did not expect that.”

A second said: “Well directed scene with Arthur and Marshall.”

Another added: “Aww bless, Arthur and Marshall,” with an teary-eyed emoji.
