EMMERDALE turned into a horror movie tonight as Laurel Thomas’ twisted kidnapping ordeal got even worse.

The restaurant manager – who is played by actress Charlotte Bellamy in the ITV soap – was locked in Marshall’s bedroom by his demented dad Colin last night.

Colin has ignored Laurel’s pleas to let her go

She had been trying to get the youngster’s passport back so he could go on holiday with his aunt, but instead she ended up captive with his bible-thumping father.

In tonight’s episode Laurel was finally revealed to be missing in the village when Jai called and revealed that she hadn’t been picking up his calls, much less arrived in India in time for Rishi’s funeral.

But while the villagers tried to track her down, Laurel was trying to convince Colin to let her go – however things took a dark twist.

He warned her that if she wouldn’t repent then she would be punished – and he forced her to pray with him.

Laurel knelt down next to Colin to pray and said: “Dear Lord we come to you today in humble prayer and I ask for your forgiveness for I have sinned.

“Please guide us oh Lord so we are able to help young Marshall. We pray for his salvation and hope that he can find his way through life as far away from his father as possible.”

With that she hit him over the head with a bible and fled into the house but everything was locked up.

She tried to hide but when Colin found her things went a bit horror film.

Laurel was seen strapped to the bed, gagged and terrified as Colin warned her: “You need to know that you’ve left me no choice.”

He told her he was going to take her son Arthur and force him to help him, leaving fans horrified.

One wrote:  This is like a low budget am – dram ‘The Exorcist’.

A second referenced The Exorcist’s lead character, saying: “Not Laurel in her Regan MacNeil era!”

Another compared it to Stephen King’s Misery where Kathy Bates’ character ties James Caan to a bed.

They wrote: “When the Dales meets Hollywood #Misery”.
