META PLATFORMS, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, announced that it will begin paying dividends in March, causing its shares to soar 20% in early US trading. The company plans to make quarterly payments at a rate of 50 cents per share, potentially resulting in annual dividends of £549m for CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The move is seen as an effort to enhance the company's reputation and be taken more seriously. Meta also reported strong fourth-quarter results, with revenues rising 25% to £31.4 billion and profits tripling to £11 billion.

Ryanair Reports Increase in Passengers Despite Gaza Conflict

Budget airline Ryanair saw a 3% increase in passengers last month, reaching a total of 12.2 million customers. However, the company had to cancel over 950 flights due to the Gaza conflict. Rival airline Wizz Air experienced a 14% rise in passengers to 4.7 million in January, leading to a 10% jump in its shares.

Opel-Vauxhall Reports 15% Sales Increase in 2023

Car manufacturer Opel-Vauxhall announced a 15% increase in sales for 2023 compared to the previous year. The company also saw a 22% rise in sales of fully electric vehicles. Opel-Vauxhall's CEO, Florian Huettl, described 2023 as a "very strong year" for the company. The UK's best-selling supermini, the Corsa, contributed significantly to the sales growth.
