EMMERDALE star Liam Fox has landed a brand new role away from the soap.

It comes just weeks after it was rumoured he could be set to exit the ITV show after more than 12 years.

Emmerdale star Liam Fox has been cast in panto – after rumours he could be set to leave the ITV soap

The news was announced on Instagram

The actor, who has played Dan Spencer on Emmerdale since 2011, will swap the Yorkshire Dales for the stage when he appears in Pantomime over the festive season.

Liam, 51, has signed a big money deal to play Abanazar in a Christmas production of classic tale Aladdin.

The role will see him take to the stage at St Helens’ Theatre Royal for a seven-week run from December 2 – January 14 ‘24.

The role comes after it was rumoured that Liam is set to leave the show following a shock new storyline which has seen his character facing jail for a potential murder charge.

The Dales regular is looking at a possible long stint behind bars after he punched his daughter Amelia’s sleazy internet stalker Lloyd, leaving the creep in a coma.

Dan has since handed himself in to the police and has been warned that he will face a murder charge if Lloyd is to die following his injuries.

Soap bosses have made no official announcement about actor Liam Fox leaving Emmerdale as of yet.

Earlier this year, Liam opened up about his dad Billy’s booze hell – revealing that he drank two bottles of vodka a day in a 40-year alcohol battle.

Billy died earlier this year at the age of 73, and while he passed away from pneumonia, the actor has explained that this was caused by his alcoholism.

Liam has revealed that it was “horrendous” to watch his beloved dad struggle with the addiction for nearly four decades – and he “repeatedly warned” him that it’d kill him one day.

He went on to reveal that his dad’s “harsh” childhood is where he believes his problems began, with builder Billy beginning to noticeably drink more when Liam was just 13.

Liam shared: “In my teens, he started to get drunk on a regular basis. He would get home later and later and we used to absolutely dread it.

“Each time this happened, Dad would promise he wouldn’t drink again and for six months or so, he wouldn’t but then he would predictably start again.”
