The movie, which is called Bermondsey Tales: Fall of The Roman Empire, is the first role for Linda in more than ten years.

A source told The Mirror: “Linda was mentioned at a very early stage by the Fugitive Film Productions – the team behind Bermondsey Tales.”

They added: “They were very keen to get her on board and are absolutely thrilled that she has agreed to play Kath. “

They continued: “They feel she is perfect for the role and will do a brilliant job of bringing it to life.”

And she is to star alongside EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 21, and Kidulthood actor Adam Deacon, 40.

It is Linda’s first movie role since she starred alongside Hollywood actor Bob Hoskins and Call the Midwife icon Jenny Agutter in 2012 flick Outside Bet.

The source added: “Linda is very excited about the project and can’t wait to get stuck in once filming begins. She wants to really throw herself into it.”

The news is a huge win for Maisie too.

A source told HOAR: “Maisie has secured her first big film role and shooting will begin later this year.

“She plays Chloe, a leading player in a mobster family, and will be acting alongside Alan Ford from Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Kidulthood’s Adam Deacon.

“It is an exciting new venture for Maisie and she can’t wait to dip her toe into a big new project.

“Since Strictly and EastEnders she has kept her eyes open for her next on-screen job and the people behind Bermondsey Tales thought Maisie was the perfect fit.
