FIRST appearing on screens in August, 2021, Chloe Harris is at the core of a shocking intrigue.
Emmerdale revealed details of Chloe’s father’s criminal past on Wednesday, November 17, as she plans to run away with Noah Dingle.
Who is Chloe Harris in Emmerdale?
In 2018, it is revealed do Sarah that she is suffering from heart failure, a rare side-effect of her chemotherapy, which she needed when battling throat cancer.
For weeks, Sarah and her mother, Debbie, had to wait in the hopes of a transplant.
The good news only came in October, 2018, as Debbie had been encountering legal problems, following an acid attack: a suitable heart had finally been found for the 13-year-old.
Three years later, the teenager finds the identity of her donor, a young woman named Gemma Harris who died in a car accident.
Sarah subsequently decides to meet Gemma’s sister, Chloe Harris, in order to know more about her donor.
Although her friendship with Chloe is rocky and her family disapproves, Sarah continues to see her and is once followed by her uncle Noah Dingle.
Noah and Chloe eventually get along, leading the latter to take a step back from her friendship with Sarah.
Disapproving of the couple, Sarah’s grandmother Charity and Chloe’s housemaid Kerry Wyatt – who made an awaited return – try to stop the relationship upon finding out how dangerous Chloe’s father is.
On Monday, November 1, 2021, it was revealed that Chloe’s father was a “dangerous” criminal serving time in prison and monitoring her every move at home via CCTV.
It was also revealed that her mother has tragically died.
Emmerdale fans have questioned Chloe’s true identity for the duration of several episodes.
Chloe only added to the mystery as she described her father’s “controlling” behaviour in a new episode on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
She warned Noah that her father would kill him if he ever knew of their romance.
“He is [a bad person], he makes me visit him every week, I have to show him a diary of everything I’ve done, everywhere I’ve been”, Chloe said.
“I think he wants to keep me safe and control me so I don’t end up like Gemma.”
Chloe added: “He’d hate you and if he found out about us… he’d kill you!”
“He has people who work for him, they watch the house. Kerry knows, that is why she begged me to end it.”
Chloe then came up with a plan to run away with Noah the next day, with the hopes of escaping to a new city and staying in a hotel with her savings.
The revelations come after Chloe and Kerry were followed by a mysterious driver at the end of a previous episode, aired on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, which only added to the suspense.
Who plays Emmerdale’s Chloe Harris?
Since her first on-screen appearance, Chloe has been portrayed by actress Jessie Elland.
Her casting and details surrounding her character were first revealed to the public on August 6, 2021, two weeks prior to Chloe first appearing in Emmerdale.
Jessie’s journey to the popular ITV soap began in May, 2021, when her agent told her she had received an audition for the programme.
She filmed a self-tape from home with her mother and, one week later, was invited for a screen test, which was her first in-person audition.
After performing a scene with Karen Blick aka Lydia Hart, Jessie received another call a few weeks later, announcing that she had received the part of Chloe.
Speaking to the press, Jessie dished out a few details regarding her character’s intrigue, with a particular mention of Chloe’s father.
“So we’ve not seen him yet, but it would be really interesting to bring him in to see how he and Chloe would interact”, she said according to OK! Magazine.
“I do get the sense that Chloe knows her dad is fundamentally a bad person.”
“She feels very trapped by him, scared of him, but at the end of the day he’s still her dad and she still loves him, so it would be interesting to play out that dynamic and those emotions.”
Jessie added: “It looks all glamour and luxury on the surface, but there is a dark reason behind her wealthy lifestyle. It comes from her dad being quite a nefarious character.”
Addressing fan speculation and theories, Jessie added that predictions had been wrong so far and that no viewer had yet been able to figure out Chloe’s “secret.”
“As far as a favourite, I think all of them are good to be honest”, Jessie admitted, leaving fans in the dark.
“There’s some juicy theories out there and it’s fun to see people guessing, and trying to investigate and connect the dots, and bringing up old storylines, but I have to say that no one has got it right yet, but they are fun to read.”
Fans have come to suspect that Pierce Harris, Rhona’s murderer ex-boyfriend, could well be Chloe’s father as they even share a surname.
More importantly, he is in prison following the murder of Graham Foster and the kidnap of Rhona’s best friend, Vanessa.
Another theory suggested that Chloe’s father could also be Declan Macey, Charity’s ex-husband.
