Actor Jamie Borthwick triumphs in the festive episode of Strictly Come Dancing

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick, known for his role as Jay Brown, has emerged as the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. Paired with professional dancer Nancy Xu, the 29-year-old actor impressed the judges with their Quickstep performance.

Overcoming tough competition

Beating out other celebrities including Sugababes singer Keisha Buchanan, rugby player Danny Cipriani, historian Dan Snow, newsreader Sally Nugent, and actress Tilly Amartey, Jamie and Nancy were awarded The Christmas Glitterball trophy.

Praise from the judges

Jamie received high praise from the judges, with head judge Shirley Ballas expressing her admiration by saying, "If I could jump over this bar and quickstep around the room I would do it with you! I don't have a paddle high enough for you." Craig Revel Horwood added, "Jamie you slayed me darling, you were Fab-U-Lous."

Tipped for future series

Following his victory, insiders have revealed that Jamie is being considered for a spot in the main series of Strictly Come Dancing. A source stated, "Jamie is a big name and Strictly would love to get on board for a main series in the future. He is a huge star on EastEnders and has more than proved himself on the dancefloor. Jamie really got into the spirit of Strictly and producers would love to have him back if they could work it around his schedule."

Previous festive contestants making a comeback

It's worth noting that previous contestants of the Christmas special, such as Helen Skelton, Fern Britton, Simon Webbe, and Matt Goss, have gone on to participate in the main series of Strictly Come Dancing.
