FUMING Strictly fans hit out at rival show I’m A Celebrity after Will Mellor’s heartbreaking dance ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

His dad Bill tragically died in hospital from cancer during the first lockdown when MP Matt Hancock – who is now starring on I’m A Celeb – was the Health Secretary.

Will later revealed he was unable to comfort his mother and family members due to the strict Covid rules at the time.

The Hollyoaks and ex Coronation Street actor danced the Waltz with his professional partner Nancy Xu to the song Three Times a Lady.

He chose the ballad because his late father used to sing it to his mum.

As the dance ended Will appeared to shake with emotion and later he was unable to speak as the tears flowed.

One person reacted to Will’s dance: “For anyone feeling sorry for Matt Hancock on #ImACeleb watch Will Mellor dedicating a dance to his dad and people who couldn’t say goodbye.

“Breaking ‘guidance’ and having an affair because you fell in love seems a pathetic excuse from a weak man. #Strictly”

“Will has made me cry buckets,” tweeted another fan.

One more penned: “Will Mellor crying on #bbc #strictly about losing his dad during covid and his dance partner Nancy saying it’s for people who didn’t get to say good bye to their loved ones while Matt Hancock is about to be on the other side justifying himself.”

And another echoed: “After watching Will Mellor dance that Waltz dedicated to his father passing away during the Covid pandemic really makes watching Matt Hancock asking for forgiveness while trying to shill a book changing the narrative on his role in it all stick in my craw all the more #Strictly.”

A fourth wrote: “Will and Nancy’s dance on #Strictly and the message is such a harsh contrast with Matt Hancock’s pathetic performance on #ImACeleb. Just highlights the absurdity really doesn’t it?”

MP Matt, 44, broke his own lockdown rules when he was caught having an affair with aide Gina Coladangelo.

Disgraced Matt was paid £350,000 to take part in I’m A Celeb and revealed in the camp that he plans to publish his book within weeks called The Pandemic Diaries.

The public voted the MP, 44, to take part in his fifth consecutive challenge since joining I’m A Celeb on Wednesday.

A petition to kick him off I’m A Celeb has hit over 44,000 signatures.

Strictly Come Dancing’s results show airs tonight on BBC One at 7.20pm.
