Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are speculating that one of the professional dancers may be leaving the show. The season finale, which aired on Saturday night, saw Vito Coppola and Coronation Street star Ellie Leach take home the Glitterball trophy. However, viewers believe that Vito's fellow pro, Gorka Marquez, may be considering an exit after he and his partner Nikita Kanda became the second pairing to be eliminated from the competition this year.

Speculation from fans

According to comments on Reddit, several fans have expressed their belief that Gorka may be leaving the show. One person wrote, "I can see Gorka leaving." Another commenter said, "Anyone else have a feeling that Gorka will call it a day after this series if he’s out early doors with Nikita?" A third fan added, "I was quite surprised he came back this year after he seemed so devastated not to win in 2022, but I’ll be really gutted if he does leave as I see him as one of the best pro dancers and choreo."

Gorka's previous experience on the show

While Gorka, 33, made it to the final last year with Helen Skelton, in 2021 he and actress Katie McGlynn were the second pair to be eliminated. Outside of the show, Gorka is a father to four-year-old daughter Mia and newborn son Thiago with his fiancée Gemma Atkinson.

Gemma Atkinson's thoughts on the Strictly curse

Gemma Atkinson, 39, recently shared her thoughts on the so-called "Strictly curse," which refers to the strain that the show can put on relationships. When asked if she has any concerns when Gorka is away, Gemma responded, "Oh gosh, no! The only worry for me is where his partner is based. He could be doing a rumba with Miss World for all I care, as long as she lives up north and he can come and help me with the school run after rehearsals! I think if we were together all day, every day, 24/7, we’d probably hate it. It’s been like that for our whole relationship, so I guess it probably works because of that, we don’t know any different, really."
