Amy Dowden, the beloved professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, will not be performing this weekend due to a broken foot. Amy, who had previously missed the series due to her cancer diagnosis, was set to make a comeback at the iconic Blackpool Ballroom on Saturday night.

Tearful Instagram Post

In an emotional Instagram post, Amy shared a photo of herself wearing a protective boot and expressed her disappointment. She acknowledged that this year has been challenging for her, but she is looking forward to 2024.

Heartfelt Message

Amy wrote, "Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot. Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!"

Support from Fellow Strictly Stars

Fellow Strictly: It Takes Two star Janette Manrara commented, "Oh no! Well in that case 2024 could not be coming sooner!" Amanda Abbington, a contestant on this season of Strictly, sent her love and urged Amy to rest and take care of herself.

Amy's Cancer Journey

Amy was diagnosed with cancer in April, shortly after her honeymoon, and recently completed her last chemotherapy treatment. Unfortunately, she experienced complications after a round of chemo, which nearly cost her her life. Amy developed an infection and went into septic shock, with her blood pressure dropping dangerously low. She had to be hospitalized again after developing clots following her second round of chemo.

A Resilient Dancer

Amy's journey has been one of resilience and determination. Despite the setbacks, she remains positive and continues to fight. Amy joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and quickly became a fan-favorite. Last year, she was paired with EastEnders star James Bye.
