Fortnite players in for a treat: Free V-Bucks after Item Shop mix-up

EPIC Games has made an exciting announcement for Fortnite players, revealing that a number of gamers are now eligible for refunds.

Emote Mix-up Leads to Refunds

Players who made purchases of certain emotes on the Fortnite in-game Item Shop will now have the opportunity to get their money back.

Fortnite introduced two emotes to the platform, Side Shuffle and Jubi Slide, two years apart. However, players quickly noticed that the emotes were remarkably similar, with the primary distinction being the background music.

Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the resemblance between the two emotes, labeling it as a new form of ‘reskin’.

In response to the feedback, Epic Games has announced that all users who bought both emotes will receive a refund of 400 V-Bucks.

What to Expect

For those unfamiliar, 400 V-Bucks equates to around £4 / $5, making it a considerable sum that players had missed out on.

Following complaints about the similarities, the newer emote, Jubi Slide, was swiftly removed from the shop a few hours after its release.

Although not officially confirmed, it seems unlikely that the Jubi Slide will make a return as a standalone emote.

On the bright side, Epic Games has disclosed plans to release a new bundle featuring both emotes in a two-for-one deal.

The bundle, priced at 600 V-Bucks and available in the Item Shop, includes both Side Shuffle and Jubi Slide.

Refunds on the Way

If you had previously bought both emotes separately, there's no need to take any action to receive your refund.

Simply log in to Fortnite on your next visit, and you should find 400 V-Bucks waiting for you, while still retaining both emotes.
