Gamers have been given a deadline to upgrade their forgotten Google Stadia controllers or risk them becoming completely useless. The Google Stadia platform, often referred to as the "Netflix of gaming," was shut down earlier this year. While users were issued refunds, they were allowed to keep their controllers. However, Google has now released a tool that allows users to convert the controllers into general Bluetooth controllers for other PC games. But time is running out, as the conversion process must be completed by December 31. Here's how you can switch your Stadia controller to Bluetooth mode and pair it with other gaming services.

How to Switch Your Stadia Controller to Bluetooth Mode

To switch your Stadia controller to Bluetooth mode, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your Stadia controller is charged with at least 10% battery.
  2. Visit the Stadia web page on the Chrome browser.
  3. Click the "Start" button to begin.
  4. Tick the accept box and click "Start" to proceed.
  5. Plug your Stadia controller into your PC using a USB data cable and click "Continue."
  6. Click "Allow Chrome to verify."
  7. A popup box will appear, choose your controller from the list and click "Connect."
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to unlock the Stadia controller.
  9. Click "Next step" on the Chrome browser to continue.
  10. Click "Allow Chrome to download" to let Chrome download the update for the controller.
  11. Select "SP Blank RT Family" from the list and click "Connect."
  12. The download will start, and once it's done, click "Next step" for the installation stage.
  13. Click "Allow Chrome to install" from the popup box.
  14. Select "USB COMPOSITE DEVICE" and click "Connect."
  15. The installation process will begin, so make sure not to unplug the controller or turn off your computer.
  16. Once the installation is complete, your Stadia controller can be used for other wireless gaming services.

How to Pair Your Stadia Controller with Bluetooth

If your Stadia controller is in Bluetooth mode, here's how you can pair it with other gaming services:

  1. Hold the Stadia button and Y for about two seconds until the status light flashes orange.
  2. On the gaming device, search for a Bluetooth accessory and select your Stadia controller from the list.

Don't wait any longer! Upgrade your forgotten Google Stadia controller before it's too late!
