YAOYAO is one of the newest playable characters introduced into Genshin Impact.

How you build her will depend on how you want to use her, as she is quite a versatile character.

Yaoyao was introduced last week.

She can be a healer by boosting her HP stat, or you can create Dendro reactions with her elemental mastery.

Here’s everything you need to know about building Yaoyao in Genshin Impact.

Best weapons for Yaoyao in Genshin Impact

For a healing-focused build, you should opt for something that provides you with the maximum amount of additional HP.

Black Tassel is a fantastic free option for this, and suited for a four-star character like Yaoyao.

If you have weapons to spare, Staff of Homa is the preferred option, but as a five-star polearm, you might want to save it for someone else.

However, when used as a Sub DPS, you’ll want to use a polearm with good elemental mastery.

Moonpiercer is a great option for this, and is a craftable weapon with a passive effect that can boost a team member’s attack.

Here are some other options if you are concentrating on elemental reactions.

  • Kitain Cross Spear (four-star polearm)
  • Dragon’s Bane (four-star polearm)

Best artifacts for Yaoyao in Genshin Impact

As with weapons there are two sets you can choose from for Yaoyao.

If you are using her as a healer, Tenacity of Millelith is your best set.

Two pieces will increase HP by 20%, and four pieces buffs a team member’s attack and shield strength.

For a healing build these are the stats you should focus on.

  • Flower: HP (main stat), HP%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, Critical Hit Rate (secondary stats)
  • Plume: Attack (main stat), HP%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, HP (secondary stats)
  • Sands: HP% (main stat), Energy Recharge, Attack%, Critical Hit Damage, Critical Hit Rate (secondary stats)
  • Goblet: HP% (main stat), Elemental Mastery, Attack%, Critical Hit Damage, Critical Hit Rate (secondary stats)
  • Circlet: Healing Bonus% (main stat), HP%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, HP (secondary stats)

If you want to focus on reactions, Deepwood Memories suits Yaoyao.

The set will boost elemental mastery and reduce enemies’ resistance to Dendro.

If you want to use Yaoyao as a support for Nilou, we recommend Flower of Paradise Lost instead, as this set specifically buffs Bloom reactions.

Here are the stats you should focus on.

  • Flower: HP (main stat), Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, HP%, HP (secondary stats)
  • Plume: Attack (main stat), Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, HP%, HP (secondary stats)
  • Sands: Elemental Mastery (main stat), Energy Recharge, HP%, Attack%, HP (secondary stats)
  • Goblet: Dendro Damage% (main stat), Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, HP%, Attack% (secondary stats)
  • Circlet: Elemental Mastery (main stat), Energy Recharge, HP%, Attack%, HP (secondary stats)

Best teams for Yaoyao in Genshin Impact

Yaoyao is quite flexible when it comes to her teammates, since she can be used in different roles. As a Dendro healer, she’s a new option for Nilou teams.

  • Nilou (Main DPS), Xingqiu (Sub DPS), Nahida (Support), Yaoyao (Support)

In this team not only does Yaoyao heal her teammates, but she also offers off-field support for Dendro effects, and creates Dendro resonance.

Xingqiu provides a bit more damage than Kokomi, making him the preferred option when paired with Yaoyao.

  • Cyno (Main DPS), Fischl (Sub DPS), Nahida (Support), Yaoyao (Support)

Here Yaoyao and Nahida will provide Dendro off-field effects and resonance.

Fischl will be the battery for the team, and also create Electro resonance with Cyno, which helps everyone recharge their abilities.

Cyno needs strong reactions to work optimally, making Yaoyao a great partner.
