KANYE West secretly pitched his own video game, Nintendo’s former boss has revealed.

The rap icon is reportedly a big fan of gaming – and wanted to launch a title under the Nintendo brand.

Kanye West reportedly pitched a game to Nintendo’s US chief

His efforts were outed by former president of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime.

The Nintendo boss met with Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian-West briefly to discuss the idea.

Speaking on the Talking Games with Reggie & Harold podcast, Nintendo’s old chief said the meeting was “interesting”, as picked up by Game Informer.

Kanye is said to have stopped by the Nintendo booth at Los Angeles’ annual E3 video games convention some years ago.

Former Nintendo US head Reggie Fils-Aime is one of the biggest names in gaming

There he spent time with Shigeru Miyamoto, a legendary game designer who helped create Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.

Kanye reportedly asked to meet with Reggie, and eventually sat down with him.

They met in Kanye’s fashion office in Calabasas, California, and pitched his idea for a Nintendo video game.

Reggie said that Kanye had “such a passion for the video game space”.

But ultimately, Kanye’s idea was politely rejected.

“We had so many different projects at Nintendo going on, the possibility of doing something with Kanye just wasn’t there,” Reggie explained.

“And so I had to find a way to politely decline this opportunity to work with him.”

Reggie said he told Kanye that Nintendo was tough to work with due to its high standards.

And Kanye reportedly replied: “Reggie, you’re exactly the type of partner I want because of that reason!”

Reggie didn’t explain exactly what the game was about.

But he said: “Part of it was talking about what he was up to.

“He was experimenting with a piece of video game content; he wanted reactions to it.

“He comes out and says, ‘I want to work with Nintendo’.”

Back in 2015, Kanye did actually tease a video game called Only One.

The game was dedicated to his late mother, tasking players with helping her along on her journey to heaven.

Sadly, the game remains unreleased.

It’s unclear if Only One is the same game referenced by Reggie.

In other news, HOAR’s favourite alternative to a games console is the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.

Grab a VR headset and you’ll be able to play the legendary Beat Saber – like Guitar Hero, but with lightsabers.

And Dell’s Alienware R10 Ryzen Edition is a gaming PC powerhouse that crushes both the new consoles.
