Concerns Over Gaming Quality as PlayStation Shifts Focus to Live Service Games
In a surprising turn of events, PlayStation has announced that six of its highly anticipated upcoming games have been delayed. This comes as the company aims to invest more in the development of live service games, such as Fortnite and Genshin Impact, which have proven to be both lucrative and long-lasting.
Originally, PlayStation had revealed plans for 12 games in development, including a multiplayer game set in the world of The Last of Us and an online game for the Horizon series. These titles were initially scheduled to launch before March 2026.
However, during a recent earnings call, COO Hiroki Totoki announced that only six of these games will be released by FY25, with the remaining six still in progress. The decision to delay the other games was made to ensure the progress and quality of these titles meet the company's standards.
