PlayStation's Exclusives Absent from Lineup

The ongoing battle between Xbox and PlayStation has taken an unexpected turn, leaving PlayStation fans in shock. While Xbox is known for its affordability, PlayStation has always prided itself on its impressive lineup of popular series and exclusive titles.

Beloved Franchises on Hold

Spider-Man, Horizon, God of War, and The Last of Us are all fan-favorite franchises that can only be experienced on PlayStation consoles. These blockbuster games have been the driving force behind PlayStation's appeal to gamers. Therefore, the recent announcement of no major existing franchise titles in the coming fiscal year has left owners reeling.

President's Surprise Revelation

Sony president Hiroki Totoki made this shocking revelation during an earnings briefing. While emphasizing PlayStation's focus on live-service games, he dropped a bombshell by stating that major projects, including God of War Ragnarök and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, will not be released next fiscal year.

Long Wait Ahead

As PlayStation's fiscal year begins and ends in April, this means that players will have to wait until at least April 2025 to get their hands on a major first-party game. The absence of these highly anticipated titles has left many fans disappointed.

Focus on Third-Party Games

Although first-party games won't be released, Sony has ambitious plans for its popular third-party games. Totoki expects the expansion of the PlayStation 5 install base and high user engagement to drive gradual growth in third-party software sales.

PS Plus and Premium Services

Totoki also mentioned that he anticipates continued success for PS Plus, despite a potential drop in sales due to a recent price increase. He believes that the shift to attractive premium services will contribute to overall sales expansion.

Mixed Reactions

While some fans are disappointed by the absence of first-party games, others are looking forward to finally catching up on their gaming backlogs. The temporary lull in major releases may provide an opportunity for players to explore titles they may have missed.
