Eye-catching Designs Spotted at CES Show
Sony may be gearing up to release stunning new designs for the PS5 slim, just months after the console's initial launch. At the CES show in Las Vegas, three vibrant colours were spotted, hinting at the possibility of new plates launching soon.
Smaller and Lighter
The new PS5, released in November, boasts a 30% smaller size and a significant reduction in weight compared to the original models. Sony managed to bring down the weight by 18% and 24%, respectively.
Introducing Cobalt Blue, Sterling Silver, and Volcanic Red
The metallic colours showcased at CES include Cobalt Blue, Sterling Silver, and Volcanic Red. These colours were previously revealed for the original PS5 model late last year as part of PlayStation's Deep Earth Collection. Matching controller colours are also available.
Release Date and Price
Sony has not provided any indication of when the covers will be available for the Slim model or the price. Currently, the PlayStation online store only offers covers for the original Disc version and Digital version of the PS5. The plates for the original console were priced at £49.99 / $54.99. The Red and Blue colours were launched in November, while the Silver option will be available on January 26.
Inspired by Planet Earth
Designer Satoshi Aoyagi stated, "While crafting this new collection of DualSense controller and PS5 console cover colours, we drew inspiration from the beautiful and powerful hues found in the depths of planet Earth. We elevated the colours by adding a metallic finish for a touch of sophistication."
