STEAM has plenty of well-known free-to-play games that you can grab and play for nothing.

While most people know about Team Fortress or DOTA, they might not know about the free games that launch each week.

There are loads of PC games you can download and play for free.

Many smaller game developers release their games for free on Steam in order to get player feedback.

You can download these games and keep them for life, so there is no harm in trying them out.

Just be aware that they are still in the play testing phase and likely a bit rough around the edges, so don’t expect a triple-A experience.

Six games launched today (August 10) that are all free to download and keep.

The first is Project F, a team-based FPS shooter, where people group together in teams of five, in order to take down their opponents.

The map is procedurally generated, meaning that you will fight in a different arena every time.

Trans Ops is a fast-paced third-person tactical shooter, with eight different game modes, and original maps.

Can Strike is a different take on the FPS genre, where you play a union worker on strike.

Your company sends wave after wave of robots after you to end the strike, and you have to fight back and fend them off.

The most promising shooter on the list is Vipertrace, a FPS with an interesting neon art style.

This one is more tongue-in-cheek and people might appreciate the style of humour in this one.

If you fancy something in a different genre, Unsorted Horror is a collection of five different short horror games.

This one comes highly recommended by players, many of who say that they would happily pay for the heart-pounding experience.

The final game on the list is Post-Apo Builder: Prologue which is a management simulator where you help out a base trying to recover following the apocalypse.

All of these games are free-to-play so try whichever takes your fancy.

Here are all the new games that have launched on Steam for free.

  • Project F
  • Trans Ops
  • Can Strike
  • Unsorted Horror
  • Post-Apo Builder: Prologue
  • Vipertrace
