BATTLE Royale games have become one of the hottest gaming genres in recent years, drawing in millions of players daily. Games like Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone have captivated players with their competitive gameplay, but there's a new game in town that's all about having fun in silly situations.
Introducing Headbangers: Rhythm Royale
Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is a new game that takes Fall Guys' lighthearted premise and adds a musical twist. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play this game for free, and we've been testing it out for the past couple of weeks.
In Headbangers, you play as a cartoon pigeon with a stretchy, elastic neck who's passionate about music and keeping to the beat. You and up to 30 other players will compete in a series of rhythm minigames over four different rounds. At the end of each round, the worst-performing players will be eliminated, and the last one standing will be crowned the victor.
A Variety of Rhythm Minigames
Headbangers offers a decent variety of rhythm minigames, each bringing something new and different to the table. However, some players may find it repetitive as most of the minigames are variations of Simon. You'll need to repeat actions performed in front of you with your pigeon, and the complexity and speed of the actions increase as the rounds progress.
For example, one minigame is styled around a fitness class, where an instructor performs a series of moves that you must mimic. Another minigame is a game of whack-a-mole, where moles pop up in a specific rhythm and you must memorize the sequence and hit them in the correct order.
Cute and Funny Pigeon Designs
While the gameplay may become repetitive, the pigeon designs in Headbangers are undeniably cute and funny. You can earn points by playing the game and unlock outfits to dress up your pigeon. The designs are reminiscent of Chicken Run, with a cartoony and silly aesthetic.
Is it Worth Checking Out?
If you're a fan of rhythm games and battle royales, Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is definitely worth checking out, especially if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription. While the music may not be anything spectacular, the game offers a whimsical and entertaining experience that can be enjoyed in short bursts.
