Xbox drops a surprise free game for owners

Xbox recently announced a lineup of eight free games coming to the platform in February, including the highly-rated Resident Evil 3 remake. However, Xbox had one more surprise up its sleeve for owners.

A massive surprise for Xbox Game Pass owners

An additional game is coming to Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, bringing the total up to nine. This surprise addition is Tales of Arise, a hugely popular JRPG with an impressive 87 rating on review aggregate site Metacritic.

Unusual release strategy

What makes Tales of Arise even more interesting is that it will be available on both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra on the same day, instead of being exclusive to one service. This is a departure from the usual exclusivity agreements between platforms.

An epic tale of liberation

Tales of Arise is set in a world of tyranny, mysterious masks, lost pain, and memories. Players will wield the Blazing Sword and join forces with a mysterious girl to fight their oppressors. The game promises next-gen graphical expressiveness and a captivating storyline.

A long-running series

Tales of Arise is the latest installment in a series that has been going strong since 1995. Released in 2021, it was met with high praise from fans and critics who had been eagerly awaiting a new entry after five years.

Play on Xbox or PlayStation

Whether you're an Xbox or PlayStation fan, you can enjoy Tales of Arise. However, there is an extra incentive for PlayStation players. In addition to Tales of Arise, PlayStation Plus subscribers will also get access to Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Vesperia, and Tales of Symphonia in February.

Still accessible with Xbox Game Pass

Don't worry if you're subscribed to Xbox Game Pass only. You can still enjoy the latest Tales game with your subscription. Check out the other games coming to Xbox Game Pass in February to make the most of your subscription.
