Sadiq Khan faced backlash today as he announced a £6m makeover for the London Overground, with critics calling it "virtue signalling nonsense".

Sadiq Khan has been accused of "virtue signalling nonsense" after he spent £6m on the London Overground makeover.

New Names and Colors

The Mayor of London faced criticism for giving new names and colors to six Overground lines, including the "Liberty Line," the "Windrush Line," and the "Suffragette Line."

TfL defended the changes, stating that they would make it easier for passengers to identify different routes. Previously, the lines were collectively referred to as the "ginger line."

Transforming London's Transport Network

Mr. Khan hailed the makeover as a "hugely exciting moment, transforming how we think about London's transport network."

He added, "Giving each of the Overground lines distinct colors and identities will make it simpler and easier for passengers to get around. By re-imagining London's tube map, we are also honoring and celebrating different parts of London's unique local history and culture."

Waste of Money?

Tory mayoral candidate Susan Hall criticized the renaming as a waste of money. She argued that the Central line is in a terrible state, and TfL should prioritize addressing issues like rising crime on the Tube.

She said, "I will listen to Londoners, fix the problems with TfL, and get a grip on crime."
