Apple's recent announcement about the iPhone 15 Pro Max left everyone stunned. The company claims that this new device has the potential to run high-budget games typically reserved for top-notch consoles and high-end PCs.

Resident Evil Village on the iPhone 15 Pro Max: We Tried it Out

Exciting news for gamers! The latest iPhone is expected to support a range of games, including highly anticipated titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage and the Game of the Year nominated Resident Evil 4.

However, those games might take some time to arrive. So, we decided to test out one of the biggest games currently available on the iPhone: Resident Evil Village.

Developed originally for the PS4, this game served as a great starting point for our gaming test.

Improvements Galore: iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. iPad Pro

Prior to this test, we had also tried playing Resident Evil Village on the iPad Pro. Unfortunately, that experience left us disappointed due to issues like battery drain, lag, and overheating.

But when we played the game on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, we noticed significant improvements in these areas.

The battery still drained relatively quickly, losing around 35% in just an hour. However, the heating issue was much better. Thanks to the titanium shell, the device distributed heat more efficiently, making it easier to handle compared to the iPad.

In terms of graphics, the iPhone allowed us to explore more options without struggling. The device performed remarkably well, especially at a stable 30fps during shooting sequences.

Size Matters: The Trade-Off

One major drawback of gaming on the iPhone is its smaller screen size. At 6.7 inches, it falls short compared to other gaming consoles like the Portal, Steam Deck, or Switch OLED. However, it is larger than the Switch Lite or the original Switch model.

Another challenge arises when using touchscreen controls. Your hands cover a significant portion of the screen, hindering the gaming experience. On the other hand, using a controller makes the screen feel too small.

An accessory like the Backbone could help resolve this issue, but it needs to be purchased separately.

Surprising Results: The iPhone 15 Pro Max as a Gaming Powerhouse

Despite our reservations, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the iPhone 15 Pro Max handled a high-end game like Resident Evil Village.

Although you may have to stay near a power source due to battery drain, we are eager to see how this device fares against other gaming giants in today's industry.
