Ghost had arguably the most simple outfit in Masked Singer history

When the time came to shed his sheet, Kammy had another trick up his sleeve.

He was wearing a skeleton suit underneath and had to be unmasked twice before his identity was revealed.

When Ghost first took to the stage to sing The Drifters’ Save The Last Dance For Me, viewers questioned if producers ran out of money before creating the character’s look.

It was very basic, comprising of a white sheet with large eyes and red boots.

One viewer said: “Obviously run out of budget when it got to ghosts costume.”

Another posted: “Whoever ghost is spent their costume budget on stuff other than the costume.”

A third said: “Did @itvstudios run out of budget for the ghost costume… it’s literally a sheet.”

Chris said of his outfit: “I loved it. It was simple but that’s what I really liked about it. It was hard to sing in though. I never realised how hard that would be. It’s very claustrophobic.”

Judge Mo Gilligan was convinced comedian John Bishop was behind the mask.

While Jonathan Ross was sure Ghost’s Scottish accent was fake, and Rita Ora took a punt on it being Love Island’s Dr Alex.

The Ghost’s final clue, that he is “immortal in a drink with a head” had the panel scratching their heads.

The guesses came thick and fast tonight as The Masked Singer returned to screens tonight.

First up was Knitting – a pink a ball of wool skewered by two knitting needles.

In her videotape, Knitting had a Lancastrian accent and hinted at a connection with the world of theatre.

They also walked past a magpie, the bird that is famously associated with Newcastle.

The character described themselves as being like a “big warm hello and cuddle”.

And she “promised not to string you along”.

Former Blue Peter presenter Connie Huq was Jonathan’s guess, while Davina opted for Jane Horrocks and Rita went for Samantha Barks.

While fan guesses were varied, Girls Aloud star Cheryl’s name cropped up time and time again.

Her bandmate Nicola Roberts previously appeared on the show and may have offered the Geordie stunner some advice.

Cheryl has valid links to the clues too, with her landing a role in West End show 2:22 A Ghost Story and her hometown being Newcastle.
