However, he admits he needs to change his lifestyle if he’s to make romance work.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Lockie said: “In a relationship, I am loyal. I know I have cheated in the past, but I have grown up and I am loyal despite what people think. I am protective and I have old fashioned values.

“My cons are I am a bit nutty. I party too much. Partying is fine, but I always have to take it to the next level. I don’t know when to end the party which is my problem.

“I need to learn how to go for dinner and drinks afterwards without it turning into a club and then after party. I don’t need to be chasing the night anymore.”

Lockie’s last relationship ended last July when he split from Yazmin Oukhellou.

She accused him of cheating after a wild night of partying in Turkey led him to the room of a group of girls.

And in 2016 he split from Danielle Armstrong after they gave their on/off romance a final go.

Danielle summarised their relationship with the quote: “She loved him and he loved her but it wasn’t that simple.”

The buff heartthrob said he can struggle to “let people in” because of his insecurities.

He told us: “There’s a part of me which is scared to fall in in love again because someone has a hold over you essentially. Someone else has power over your emotions and that’s scary.”

The show has been much more than just a series of throwaway dates for James, who has poured his heart out to the dating coaches Paul Carrick Brunson and Anna Williamson and receptionist Tom Read Wilson.

“Yes I’ve opened up a lot with Anna and Paul and Tom for that matter,” he explained. “Tom and I have a massive bond and I love him to bits. I have a lot of time for him. The same for Paul. I feel like he is a real friend now. We have both come from rough backgrounds and done well for ourselves.

“I’ve told the agents things about my family I’ve not even told my mates.

“I am a little worried about it being aired but at the same time it is the truth and I need to say it.

“I love my parents but I didn’t have the best childhood and it has affected me.”

Celebs Go Dating is back on Sunday night at 9pm on E4.
