I’M A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have broken their silence on Matt Hancock entering the iconic jungle.

The MP for West Suffolk caused huge controversy penning a bumper deal as a late I’m A Celeb entry, losing the Conservative Party whip in the process.

Matt, 44, will complete his first Bushtucker Trial today

Matt, who had to resign as Secretary of State for Health after HOAR exposed him for breaking his own lockdown rules by having an affair in the office, is the 12th star to go into the jungle.

A petition to ban him from the show reached 44K signatures – yet it has been to no avail.

It is estimated the dad-of-three will be paid at least £350,000 to appear on I’m A Celebrity – with fans set to see him screaming in fear in his first gruesome challenge tonight.

Despite the wide-ranging public outcry, the show hosts have remained silent until now.

Taking to their Instagram Live, Ant, who swerved away from snap judgement, said: “‘I think a lot of people are going to be screaming at the telly.

“But I don’t know the man so let’s wait and see.”

Matt, who now a backbench MP, will enter the Snake Rock camp alongside comedian Seann Walsh, 36, after the hit ITV series was thrown into chaos when Olivia Attwood, 31, left.

Matt and Seann were teased at the end of Tuesday’s show before they made their way into the separate camp today.

A TV insider said: “Matt and Seann will be arriving together into the camp which is away from the other celebrities.

“Producers have been planning the perfect way to introduce the pair into the show and it will be TV gold when the campmates see Hancock.”

Meanwhile, bookies Betfair have told HOAR how Matt is 1/2 favourite to face the the most Bushtucker Trials this series.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom told us: “As Matt Hancock makes his first appearance episode, the odds suggest that his trial tonight won’t be his last.

“He hasn’t entered camp yet and he’s already the 1/2 favourite to do the most public voted bush tucker trials but 10/3 to be voted out first.”
