I’M A Celebrity viewers have threatened to “switch off” after the show’s new format saw TWO campmates booted off the show.
Last night saw three pairs of celebrities battle it out for a place on the ITV spin-off show in Savage Safari – and the losing pair lost their place in camp.
In a change from the usual I’m A Celebrity format, the campmates who come last in the all stars trials, get evicted from the show – instead of viewers’ getting to vote.
This has caused uproar amongst fans, who say that viewers should get the chance to have their say on who goes.
The South African all stars version of I’m A Celebrity was pre-recorded in November, so it isn’t possible for ITV to allow viewers to vote for their favourite celebrity.
But fans took to Twitter to vent, with one saying: “I’m enjoying #imacelebrity BUT these shows only work because the public get to vote. They should have just made it work LIVE. #ImACeleb.”
While this one said: “NO I HATE THIS WE NEED TO VOTE WERE GONNA LOSE GOOD PEOPLE #ImACeleb,”
Another commented: “”No this is a joke why not just do summer and winter I’m a celeb so we can vote, I hate that one of my faves will be going, and if it’s Andy I’m switching off #ImACeleb,”
Meanwhile, last night residents of Savanah Scrub, Shaun Ryder, Andy Whyment and Phil Tufnell had to pick another celeb to partner up with.
Phil picked Georgia Toffolo, Shaun decided to team up with Gillian McKeith and Andy chose Jordan Banjo.
They were handcuffed and chained to a truck and had to use tools to free themselves in order to win a place back at camp.
Unfortunately Gillian and Shaun were the last team to complete it, meaning that they were the first to go home this evening.
“I’m sad to leave because I really wanted to stay,” Gillian confessed.
Shaun added: “Gutted.”
Meanwhile the other pairs headed back to camp.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to share their disappointment.
One said: “Shaun’s going home, I’m so sad.”
Another wrote: “Gillian really wanted to stay? But clearly didn’t even try?”
A third tweeted: “Leaving already, at least give it another week !!”
