I’M A Celebrity helicopters have infuriated residents living near to the camp – complaining about the impact on wildlife including flying foxes and brush turkeys.

The ITV show, which is based in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, has seen choppers flying in and out of the camp after the series kicked off last week.

I’m A Celeb returning to Australia has not impressed the locals

However it is not just residents who have noticed the increase in helicopters this series after

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly joked that they appeared to be the go-to mode of transport Down Under.

Ant said: “Is it just me or are there a lot of helicopters on the show this year?

“Yeah there are a lot! It feels like it. There are loads of them. They must be like taxis in Australia. They are everywhere. There are helicopters everywhere,” Dec added.

A post was shared on social media warning locals to prepare for the noise after the ITV series has returned to Australia after two years following restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Sharing a snap of two choppers one resident wrote: “Yeah it’s very annoying.”

Another added: “Very annoying in a rural setting.”

Meanwhile, a third was concerned for the local animals adding: “Poor wildlife.”

The camp is located in the Tweed Shire which is home to an array of Australian native species which also includes masked lapwings, also known as plovers, possums and magpies.

On tonight’s show viewers will see Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh enter the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

The former health secretary, 44, will be heading into the Snake Rock camp alongside comedian Seann Walsh, 36, after the hit ITV series was thrown into chaos when Olivia Attwood, 31, was forced to leave on medical grounds earlier this week.

They will be entering at 8:30pm UK time tonight (Tuesday) which is 6:30am tomorrow AU time. Viewers will see a short VT tease on tonight’s ep, then see their arrival on Wednesday night’s show.

A TV insider said: “Matt and Seann will be arriving together into the camp which is away from the other celebrities.

“Producers have been planning the perfect way to introduce the pair into the show and it will be TV gold when the campmates see Hancock.”

Snake Rock and Croc Creek have famously battled it out in previous series to win stars before uniting to create one big camp.
