Josie Gibson, presenter of This Morning, made a dramatic exit from the latest I’m A Celebrity Bushtucker Trial when large spiders were dropped on her head. The terrified star, who has a genuine phobia of spiders, screamed “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” before leaving the trial. Josie had been participating in the Barbaric Barbershop challenge with fellow campmates Fred Sirieix, Marvin Humes, and Danielle Harold.
Josie’s fear of spiders leads to her exit
Tears streaming down her face, Josie couldn’t bear the sight of spiders surrounding her head inside a giant glass bowl. In a state of panic, she shouted, “F***, f***, get me out!” Ant and Dec rushed to comfort her as she broke down in tears.
Admitting her phobia
Prior to the trial, Josie openly shared her fear of spiders, calling it a serious phobia. She even joked about being the only “idiot” to sign up for I’m A Celebrity with such a fear. Unfortunately, facing her fear didn’t go as planned.
The Barbaric Barbershop trial
The Barbaric Barbershop challenge required each of the four celebrities to sit in chairs with their heads placed in individual bowls. Using their tongues, they had to unscrew broken pieces of stars and then use them as puzzle pieces to complete stars in their armrests. However, they were warned that the pieces in their bowls might actually belong to their campmates’ puzzles, so they would have to pass them back and forth.
A disappointing result
In the allotted 10 minutes, the remaining trio of campmates managed to retrieve only four out of the 10 stars needed for dinner.
Dealing with her fear
After the trial, Josie spoke with Ant and Dec, expressing her disappointment in herself for not overcoming her fear. She mentioned wanting to get over her fear but admitted that it was not something she could control. She said, “If you’re frightened of something… yeah.”
Feeling embarrassed
Back at camp, Josie confided in Nella Rose, admitting that she felt embarrassed for pulling out of the trial. Her fear of spiders had taken over, and she couldn’t push through it this time.
Overall, Josie’s experience with the Barbaric Barbershop trial highlights the real impact that phobias can have, even in the most challenging situations.
