Same-Day Delivery Now Comes with a Price Tag

Amazon has announced a significant change to its delivery services, and Prime members are not pleased. Starting next month, Prime members will be charged for same-day delivery on certain orders. Previously, this service was offered free of charge for all eligible orders.

Details of the Update

In an email sent to Prime members, Amazon explained that they are investing in improving their same-day delivery service, which has prompted this change. From September 18, 2023, eligible Prime orders under £20 will no longer receive free same-day delivery. Instead, a fee of £1.99 per delivery will be imposed. Non-Prime members will continue to be charged £5.99 for same-day delivery.

Prime Members Express Their Anger

Many Prime members have taken to social media to express their frustration with this change. Some have questioned the value of their Prime membership, while others have threatened to cancel their subscriptions altogether. However, there are still those who see the £1.99 charge as reasonable for same-day delivery on lower-priced items.

Are You Eligible for Same-Day Delivery?

Same-day delivery is only available to those living in eligible postcodes. At checkout, you will see the option to select same-day delivery if it is available in your area. To ensure delivery by 10pm on the same day, eligible customers must place their orders before midday.

Don't Forget About Free Next-Day Delivery

While the introduction of fees for same-day delivery may upset some Prime members, it's important to remember that free next-day delivery on eligible items will still be offered to all Prime members. If you are dissatisfied with the changes and want to save some money, you have the option to cancel your membership.

How to Cancel Your Amazon Prime Subscription

If you wish to cancel your Amazon Prime membership, simply go to your Amazon Prime Account page while logged into your Amazon account. Click on "Manage," where you will find options to update, cancel, and more. Select "End membership" on the left-hand side of the page. For those who have free Prime trials (30 days or six months for students), remember to cancel before the trial ends to avoid being automatically charged.
