A beloved bowling alley in Cornwall is preparing to shut its doors for good after more than three decades of serving as a community "lifeline". Truro Bowl, a popular family attraction, has been open for over 32 years, but the reason behind its sudden closure remains unclear. The news was confirmed on the business' website, stating that Saturday, September 30 would be its final day of operation.

Community Mourns Loss of "Lifeline"

The closure of Truro Bowl, one of Cornwall's largest bowling alleys, has left its fans devastated. Mayor of Truro, Steven Webb, expressed his sadness over the closure, emphasizing the bowling alley's role as a vital community hub. On Facebook, he praised the staff for navigating through challenging years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and nearby development. In a heartfelt post, he shared how the business had been a "lifeline" for him, particularly as a quadriplegic, for nearly three decades. Truro Bowl, accommodating disabled players with custom-built frames, hosted charity events and served as a refuge for Webb.

End of an Era for Popular Entertainment Venue

Known for its eight lanes and welcoming atmosphere, Truro Bowl was a go-to venue for stag, hen, and birthday parties. Its closure marks the end of an era for the local community, leaving a void in the entertainment scene. This comes as three other businesses in the town, including a bakery and two clothes shops, have also permanently closed their doors this week. Warrens Bakery, with over 40 outlets, is set to shut down its Truro branch by the end of Saturday.

Parking Rule Change Threatens Shops in Callington

In nearby Callington, shop owners are facing a different challenge. They fear that a recent parking rule change could lead to their businesses being wiped out within a few months. Angry and concerned, they are seeking solutions to prevent this unfortunate outcome.
